Stubborn Resistance

“ Is not My word like fire [that consumes all that cannot endure the test]?” Says the Lord, “and like a hammer that brakes the [most stubborn] rock [in pieces]?”

Jeremiah 23:29 AMP

Oh my! We all come in contact with people who are stubborn. There may be people in your circle that carry and operate in these characteristics. Many years ago when I was a young mother, there was a term used predominantly “ The strong willed child“. I raised two boys who were very strong-willed, and at times down right challenging beyond their years! I am sure many of you can relate.

This is a very powerful verse, that is emphasizing the authority the word of God has when it is declared and released. His word when spoken goes forth to divide and separate like a two edged sword to the very bone and marrow of our being. His word will attack stubbornness, and strong wills which is even more so prevalent in our culture today.

Miriam Webster’s definition of stubborn is the following:

unreasonably or perversely unyielding, MULISH

MULISH means: unreasonably and inflexibly obstinate!

It is also defined as: self opinionated, stiff necked, self willed, and unyielding.

You may be living in a family with great opposition, but let me assure you there is grace for you.

Grace is not a doctrine or theological subject. When Jesus talks about Grace He’s talking about Himself. Grace is a person. Grace is Jesus Himself. His grace is the antidote to counter attack every arrow of opposition and every stronghold of the mind, including every fear and negative emotion that partners with it.

There’s a song that we used to sing many years ago in Sunday school with my boys growing up. I learned it as a small child and it brings me to tears each time I sing it even now in my senior years.

“Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong we are weak but He is strong! Yes Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so

His word , (His love )will break into pieces the most stubborn resistance. Remember this, His word and His love will never fail.
